Retirement means you've got a lot more time on your hands, maybe even more than you know what to do with. Traveling can be a great way to spend some of that time. It can help you get out there, socialize, and experience new things.
But what if you're not sure about where to go?
Here are 5 of my top vacation destinations:
If you're a nature-lover, this place is for you. The Canadian Rockies stretch between Alberta and British Columbia and are one of the most iconic places you can visit in Canada. It's known for its beautiful mountains, stunning lakes, and impressive wildlife.
Depending on what time of the year you go, you can partake in different activities. In the summer, you can enjoy hiking, bike riding, horseback riding, rafting, and wildlife tours. Visit in the winter for dog sledding, cave tours, snow shoeing, and ice walks.
If you're looking for something a little slower paced, a cruise around Central Europe might be for you. It might not necessarily be a destination, but it's all about the journey, right?
This adventure takes you through various European countries like Hungary, Germany, and Switzerland, so you can take in all that Europe has to offer. You can even get off the boat to enjoy a walk around the city and sightsee.
Alaska is a popular destination for senior travelers. It has a reputation for being wild, free, and spectacular. You can experience glacier winter tours, incredible aurora viewings, wildlife cruises and tours, and whale watching!
Alaska even offers some exclusive senior tours as well as low-mobility excursions.
Yosemite National Park is great to visit any time of the year. It offers beautiful scenery no matter the season and many different fun-filled activities.
It's probably most well-known for its giant Sequoia trees that you can take a lovely nature walk through. Yosemite also has some amazingly rich history that you can learn all about while there.
Again, not necessarily a destination, but road trips are a great way to experience and see new things that you never even knew existed. Check out the Corn Palace in South Dakota or Ben and Jerry's Flavor Graveyard in Vermont for some unique experiences.
The best part about a road trip is that it can take you on new adventures you didn't even have planned. And you get to enjoy it at your own pace.
