It's easy to set resolutions and goals, and let them slip when life gets crazy. For many people, they set a New Year's Resolution, but then it only lasts a month or two into the New Year.
Being two months into 2021, here are 4 tips so that you can actually keep your goals and resolutions going the entire year!
1. Resolution Journal
Keeping a journal and tracking your progress may help you stay motivated. At the end of each week, you can read everything you were able to accomplish over the week and reflect. Doing this makes you proud of what you have done, as well as stay motivated for the week, and weeks to come. When you visually see the goals and resolutions on a page, it may help you in achieving it.
2. Tell Friends and Family
Tell your friends and family your goals and your timeline on achieving them. When you communicate these with your loved ones, they can help hold you accountable. You could also ask if they would like to join you. For example, if your resolution is to exercise more, ask if they would like to exercise with you. Pick a few days, and hold each other accountable for achieving this goal. Additionally, when your loved ones are aware of what you are trying to accomplish, they can support and encourage you!
3. Write a Detailed Plan
Again, seeing your goals visually may help you achieve them. But, writing out a detailed plan can actually help you achieve them as well. Write out a very detailed and specific plan with benchmarks so you can keep track of where you are and where you should be. You can also write out how you plan on accomplishing each goal. Make sure that benchmarks are realistic so you can make sure you are on track.
4. Create Daily Habits
When you create a habit of something, it will likely be added to a daily routine. When we add new things to our daily routine, it makes them easier to actually do each day. This also helps you make small steps to achieving a goal. Create small daily habits, that will help you in the long run.
We hope you have a happy and healthy 2021! Let us know what your goals and resolutions are for this year.
